051: I am grateful for credit

Oscar is at home and resting comfortably. Having to have emergency veterinary care on a holiday is very expensive. If we didn’t have credit I shudder to think of how yesterday would have turned out.

Rather than being the concerned cat owners we are today, we would have had to make a horrific decision. I am extremely grateful that decision was not forced upon us by circumstance, or poor money management (even though that is our bent).

What is credit?

Credit “is the provision of resources (such as granting a loan) by one party to another party where that second party does not reimburse the first party immediately, thereby generating a debt, and instead arranges either to repay or return those resources (or material(s) of equal value) at a later date. It is any form of deferred payment. The first party is called a creditor, also known as a lender, while the second party is called a debtor, also known as a borrower.”

As I am not bringing in a lot of cash right now, and Carol’s steady income does not really meet our needs. In fact we are deeper in debt every month rather than climbing out like we should be. That said, if it were not for credit, I do not know where we would be right now. SO it is pretty easy to be grateful for.

Even though our debt seems to be a mountain higher than Everest right now, and we are not sure when my next gig will be something inside tells me that we are going to be OK and a way out is being made for us. I have to believe that. In fact there are a few blips on the immediate horizon that just might help us over that hump. I am trying not to be superstitious but I have to admit, I have my fingers crossed.

Christmas is looking like a bust. But, we have each other, a roof over our heads, a cat on the mend and a little more credit to get us through.

Thank you credit, and thanks to everyone who has lent us a hand or even a kind word. We appreciate it. This was a tough post to write.
